After the mobile edition of Google Reader, Google launched an official iPhone edition of their Social links Reader. The new reader is optimized for a better experience with advanced browsers. This new version is designed to offer many of the same features as the desktop, while making it quick and easy to act on items. If you’ve used list view, then it should be familiar to you. Scan the titles for an item that interests you, tap and it expands in place. Starring, sharing, and keeping unread are done in place, so you never have to leave the list view or refresh the page.

Skype for iPhone by ShapeServices

ShapeServices, creator of IM+ instant messenger, have just launched Skype for iPhone, a web-based interface to use Skype services from your iPhone. The application looks amazing, I tried even from Firefox using my Skype account just curious to see the quality and it was great. After login you can call your friends, or landline number if you have skype credits. The application is written in JSP, but seems under high load currently.

Apple iPhone Multiple Vulnerabilities Reported

Secunia just reported today a highly critical vulnerabilities in all Apple iPhone 1.x. Update available to version 1.0.1 via iTunes should fix the problem.

Some vulnerabilities have been reported in Apple iPhone, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting and spoofing attacks, and potentially to compromise a vulnerable system.

A race condition error when updating a page in combination with HTTP redirection may allow Javascript code from one page to modify a redirected page.
A boundary error in the Perl Compatible Regular Expressions (PCRE) library used by the Javascript engine in Safari can be exploited to cause a heap-based buffer overflow when a user visits a malicious web page. Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code.
An HTTP injection issue in XMLHttpRequest can be exploited to inject arbitrary HTTP requests.
An error in WebKit within in the handling of International Domain Name (IDN) support and Unicode fonts embedded in Safari can be exploited to spoof a URL by registering domain names with certain international characters that resembles other commonly used characters.
An invalid type conversion when rendering frame sets may allow execution of arbitrary code.

Google AJAX Search on the iPhone

Mark Lucovsky, Software Engineer Google, pushed a new sample of Google AJAX search for iPhone. The code provides an AJAX interface for Google search, image, news and blogs that anyone can use, clone, modify … etc. To make Google AJAX Search suitable for iPhone, Mark said that they :

Used the Raw Searcher Layer which is fully documented and is the base layer used in all of our advanced search controls
Followed the iPhone web-development guidelines published by Apple
Designed the sample to be readable on the 320×480 device without the need for excessive zooming
Positioned the various controls to account for the size and accuracy of the human finger
Took advantage of the fact that the iPhone keyboard will adapt itself to the “type” of input control (note the search button in the bottom right of the keyboard)
Used an appropriate link target to ensure that links open on a new page leaving the search page intact and ready for another search

The AJAX Search API is designed for developers. When your applications can take advantage of search, we provide you with everything you need in order to seamlessly integrate that search experience onto your site. You can control size, position, color scheme, searcher mix, result fidelity, etc.

iTouch, Game of Speed and Agility for iPhone

Just don’t broke your iPhone screen with this, iTouch is a funny game where you have to play and test your iPhone skills for tapping. Quickly tap the center of the target as fast as you can to earn points. Missing the target will take off a life. After a quick delay, the target will move, so if you aren’t quick enough, you’ll miss it. As you get further, it moves faster. After accumulating 1,500 points, you will gain an extra life. Scoring depend on the color and size of the target and goes from +10 to +150.

Avalanche Game for iPhone

Avalanche is one of my favorite games for iPhone, simple, easy and fun. It works also on any other browser, so I spend few time playing on PC, probably it remind me tetris. The game is fully written in JavaScript, but seems there is no gameover, you can play forever ! Just watch your batteries.

Gridgets, a grid for your iPhone’s widgets

Cultured Code just launched Gridgets, a new way to organize your iPhone widgets. You can add your own widget simply by adding a name, link and a 64×64 px icon. You can choose from the existent widgets and organize them to make your favorite iPhone home page. I just liked the idea of Gridgets of being the personal home page for iPhones.

Zimbra launched iZimbra, their official collaboration suite optimized for iPhone. The new iZimbra is 100% standards compliant and will be included with ZCS 5.0. iZimbra allow users to get their address books, e-mail, and calendars wherever they are, without the need for the iSync or Outlook connectors.
